3 Tips for Cleaning Quartz Countertops

Engineered quartz countertops just seem to get more and more popular all the time. They can give you the look and feel or stone, but are much easier to maintain. Here are some tips to keep your quartz countertops looking amazing.

Clean Up Messes Right Away

Quartz is incredibly resistant to stains, since its surface is non-porous. However, you still want to make sure to clean it regularly to keep substances from drying onto it. If done quickly, then wiping up any spills might be all you need. If something has dried or if it’s a particularly heavy spill, then glass cleaner will do the trick. Use a non-scratch sponge or microfiber cloth. You can also use a putty knife if you need to scrape anything off.

Deeper Cleaning

Every once in a while, it’s a good idea to do some deep cleaning with your engineered quartz countertop. Generously spray a non-abrasive cleaner on the countertop, and leave it for 10 minutes to let it work. Then you can wipe it away with a sponge or cloth. Do not use any acids or alkaline cleaners to clean your countertops.

General Care Tips

Use heating pads or hot plates to protect your engineered quartz countertop. The stone is heat resistant, but there are resin components used in manufacturing that can melt at high temperatures. You should also use a cutting board when using knives. A strong slice can permanently damage the surface of your beautiful quartz countertop. Make sure to protect it from sunlight as well, which means not installing quartz outdoors. The colors will fade under direct sunlight, and the material could even split or warp.

Engineered quartz provides unparalleled strength, durability, and beauty to any kitchen. Make sure to follow these cleaning and maintenance tips to keep your countertops looking great for years to come.
